We the undersigned are parents, concerned citizens and consumers who are tired of you not standing up for the very audience you claim to care about, children and families. The incident in question occurred on March 14, 2008. ABC’s 20/20, owned by your company, aired a show challenging age of consent laws. To the dismay and shock of child advocates and Anti-pedophile bloggers and writers (a term coined for those who expose online sex offenders, predators and pedophiles), it was disproportionately favorable to the plight of sex offenders.

The show featured a segment called “Vigilante Justice” in which John Stossel interviewed a child advocate/anti-pedophile blogger named Petra Luna and Jan Kruska, a convicted sexual predator, who at 22 had sex with a 15 year old. In this segment Peta Luna was portrayed as an antagonist and bully for trying to point out Jan Kruska’s hypocrisies. Jan Kruska on the other hand was portrayed as just an inncoent “victim of the system.”

Jan Kruska is not a innocent “victim of the system”, she is exactly what the system is trying to protect our children from. John Stossel went on to portray the relationship as nothing more than a “Romeo and Juliet” relationship when in fact this was a case of an older woman having sex with a hormone filled child who in most states can’t even drive a car.

The truth is that “Romeo and Juliet” relationships refer to younger teens “hooking up” with older teens or with minimal age gaps. We believe 20/20 mislead viewers by portraying the United States National Sex Offender Registry as made up of a significant amount of Romeo and Juliet affairs by conjecture only.

The truth about Jan Kruska is that she is a notorious sex offender activist and advocate. Many child advocacy organizations believe her profiling by Wikisposure was what prompted her to contact 20/20:

Wikisposure (www.wikisposure.com) is a subsidiary of Perverted Justice (www.pervertedjustice.com), who is best known for their partnership with NBC’s Dateline to expose Internet predators. It has been rumored that NBC’s show “To Catch a Predator” has long been the nemesis of ABC’s 20/20 in a tumultuous ratings war.

The reason child advocacy volunteers are most concerned with 20/20’s support of sex offenders is obvious, but we also think they were sorely remiss in not disclosing Jan Kruska’s sex offender advocacy work and the dangers of lowering age of consent laws to tweens or even younger.

In another segment John Stossel tried to show how backwards we are because in other countries, Yemen for example, the age of consent laws start at age 9. What is also not explained by Mr. Stossel is that Yemen, like many other Islamic nations, follow Sharia laws. In Sharia law women are devalued as nothing more than a means for procreation and are never equal to man. Is this the position you are taking?

In conversations after the show Petra Luna has revealed to us that the producers of 20/20 and John Stossel were made aware of Jan Kruska’s website, http://www.operationawareness.com/ and her general motives. It doesn’t take much research on her site to question whether or not she has a child’s best interest in mind, the arguments and anger toward the parents of abused children and the laws that were designed to protect them go much further than a scorned offender.

One of the best examples of her real motives can be found in an article on her site entitled “Murdered Children’s Parents Profiled”, Jan Kruska suggests that people such as John Walsh and Mark Lunsford are responsible for their children being murdered and sexually abused:

Sex offender advocates, like Jan Kruska, work by grooming the public in much the same way that they groom children. They slowly introduce ideas and use deception to present their cause as synonymous with the civil rights movements such as the minority and gay rights movements.

They often present their advocacy as:
* Fighting for children’s rights when in fact they believe that it’s a child’s RIGHT (sometimes as young as infancy) to have sex with an adult
* That child protection laws and the sex offender registry don’t work. They present junk science to decriminalize sex offenses against minors
* That is the fault of the child or the parents if a child is molested.

Many sex offender reformers claim that if a child falls into the hands of a predator it is because the parent was a bad parent or actually blames the child as the instigator of sex, regardless of their age

Further incriminating 20/20 is their forums and public discussion on the Age of Consent (located on the 20/20 website) where they decided to selectively delete posts by true child advocates (Anti-pedophile volunteers) and leave up the comments of sex offense reformers and pedophile activists.
