In true Fay style the storm made forecasters frustrated because she won’t play by their rules. They have spent millions on models and forecasting tools, yet the storm is doing pretty much what she wants. I commend the forecasters from the NHC for at least giving Fay some respect over the past few days. Unlike [...]

So far TS Fay has frustrated forecasters since her birth over a week ago. Now she is no exception. They believed she would leave the state near Daytona or Jacksonville. Now it looks like she will be exiting the state over 100 miles from previously forecasted, now it is exiting well south of Melbourne. They [...]

Looks like we may miss the bulk of Fay. We need to still keep an eye on her, but it is looking more like South Western Florida between Naples and Chocolooskee. Will keep all advised.

Well it is looking more and more like Fay maybe visiting us as a Cat 1 or better storm. If you follow Tampa Bay history the worse case scenario for us is to have a storm approach from the mouth of the bay which is exactly what Fay is expected to do. The problem isn’t the winds, it’s the storm surge. Over 3,000,000 people could possibly be affected by this system.

Just when you think it’s safe to go back in the water, TS Fay comes to spoil the day. The forecasted track has Fay either making landfall or passing very close to Tampa as a Cat 1 or possibly Cat 2 hurricane.
We will stay on this and keep everyone updated. Make sure you check out [...]

Every year we take time to point out weather conditions that may affect the Florida surf. This Hurricane season is no exception. Most of the information I go by comes from a guy named Rob Lightbrown over at Crown Weather Services. As with any forecast it is a best guess, but this guy has an [...]
