Unlike many of my fellow Conservative bloggers, I will not chose to go easy on John Murtha now that he is dead. Murtha was a bad man who did bad things and the way I see it, one less old guard corrupt politician out of office. John Murtha was an elitist in the ultimate sense. His 26 year career was constantly marred by ethics questions. He was involved in ABSCAM in the late 70′s and early 80′s. After voting for the war in Iraq he turned against it, and attacked Bush and the war with vitriolic hatred. He ended up accusing U.S. Marines of murdering Iraqi civilians “in cold blood” at Haditha, after one Marine died and two were wounded by a roadside bomb. Murtha unfairly held the Marines responsible before an investigation was concluded and fueled enemy retaliation. Other servicemen died after his statements so now he gets to spend some time with them explaining why he disgraced himself and these Marines.

So while liberals, progressives, Democrats and corrupt Republicans hold their memorials and pine about how great he was. I will just say I feel sorry for his family, but I am glad that another corrupt politician is gone.
