Fay Starting To Cooperating With Forecasters, Well Sorta
Published by The Tampa Pirate August 22nd, 2008 in Florida, Hurricane, Surfing, Tampa, WeatherIn true Fay style the storm made forecasters frustrated because she won’t play by their rules. They have spent millions on models and forecasting tools, yet the storm is doing pretty much what she wants. I commend the forecasters from the NHC for at least giving Fay some respect over the past few days. Unlike Steve Lyons and the other shmucks who speak with way too much confidence, the NHC guys give their best guess, but then end their forecasts saying that Fay may not follow anything the want her too.
Fay is now wandering across the state heading West. The high to her north that is building is building a little further south ahead of the storm. This may actually steer the storm more south than the forecast track shows. Keep an eye on her.
The surf should be good at the exposed WCF spots from Tampa Bay northward to the armpit 3+. There is a nasty wind blowing onshore so paddling out is a pain, but there are some good rides to be had.
