When Will Justice Be Served?

When an ordinary citizen molests a child, it is tragic. When a public servant does it, it is unexcusable. Douglas James Drape was a fireman, not only a
fireman, he was the Fire Chief of the Pasco County Fire/Rescue. In 1999 a little eleven year old girl was looking to Drape to be father to her, instead he wanted something else. Her innocence.
She was only 11 when he started showing her porn magazines, he then started teaching her to masterbate. By 12 he started buying her sex toys and taking photographs of her using them. By 13 he had her performing oral sex on him. At 14 she told him to stop, but he didn’t. She then told her mom, but she took Drape’s side finally at 15 she contacted authorities and put a stop to it. Drape was arrested in 2005, and was to be charged with Capital Sexual Battery which would have put him in jail for life. Instead he is getting only 15 years in a plea agreement and will be serving only 10 years of sexual predator probation. 10 years? I thought Florida was going to start getting really tough on sexual crimes against children. Guess it is just more of the same old “Good ole boys” club just like the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
My questions are:
1) How is it he only gets 15 & 10 instead of life?
2) Why was he allowed to resign instead of being fired?
3) Will he be entitled to his benefits?

Concerning the “15&10 and not life.”
The case concerning my grand-daughter just closed on thursday October 25,2007.
We were blessed that she had the strength to pursue this lengthy procedure. The strain placed on all family members were and continue to take their toll. We are dealing with the pain and will persevere.
the plea deals are offered by the prosecutor as a compromise to both parties. For the scumbag, accepting a lesser charge is better than getting the full extent of the penalty as specified under law. For the victim and their family, it is a speedy end to a long and painful trial.
Our State attorney offered just that-10/15 yr. and the scuzzbag refused no less than 6 times. Thank God this piece of work refused the offer. After a long day and a half of trial, the jury deliberated a lengthy one hour before finding the perb GUILTY!
This piece of work now stands before two charges of 25 to life.
Genius!
It is my understanding that only a small amount of these cases make it to the end. Most are dropped from lack of evidence, lack of the child from communicating and identifying the perp and lack of the victim from testifiying for numerous reasons. What about all those innocent children that are left by the wayside? How are their lives affected? Where is the justice?

Thanks I will be researching this assbag’s case and will be writing about it. I am very sorry for your granddaughter, but I am glad that justice will be served. I apologize for not being able respond until today. I have been out of town and just got back.
