A few nights ago I went to a neighborhood pub to get a couple beers and watch the ESPY’s on T.V.. To my surprise what was once Goodfellas on Gunn Hwy is now called Salutes American Meat Market. From the moment I walked in the door I was impressed with the changes they had made. Hanging up all around the bar there are patriotic pictures on the walls, American and armed services flags, tributes to the American fighting forces and in one corner a tribute to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

The place has an amazing atmosphere where you can watch sports on one side or political shows on the other. Their tag line is “Patriotic and Politically (in)Correct Restaurant/Bar”. In fact I am staking a claim on the place as the unofficial Tampa Pirate Headquarters. I will be spending time there and encourage anyone looking for a new place to hang to check it out. If you are male you will enjoy where they have put pictures of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and bin Laden.

Their website is also very cool and gives you pictures and a calender of events as well as their menu. I tried their hamburgers and I have to say they are some of the best I have had. Their Jaeger Bombs and beer aren’t bad either :-).
