The Politicans Won’t Listen!!
Published by The Tampa Pirate May 17th, 2007 in Florida, Government, Iraq War, Military, Tampa, WorkingThe latest Gallop Poll came and went with hardly a nod. Usually the MSM is all over it pointing out how low the presidents approval rating is, but this time the Democrat controlled Congress has a lower approval rating. 33% to 29%. When you break down the results they show what we have been saying all along. Republicans and Democrats are tired of politics as usual as are Independents.
From talking to people on the streets, in stores and in my neighborhood I seem to be hearing a very common theme, quit playing politics and run the freakin country. In Florida the legislators adjourned for break and you would have thought they actually accomplished something this session, they didn’t do jack. They passed a couple bills that were non-controverial, yet did nothing to solve the Homeowners Insurance crisis or the Property Tax issue. During the elections they all talked about how that would be their # 1 priority, but instead they pissed and moaned around and accomplished nothing substantial.
On the national level the Democrats in Congress have been beating a dead horse with de-funding and surrender bills while real problems that need to be solved continue to backlog. Republicans are too busy trying to pull the party back together to really mount any offense against the Democrats. Americans want substance and instead they are getting fluff and non-sense. Almost all the Democrats and all the Republicans voted for the war, and now instead of standing by their principles, most are trying to deny they did it.
Than we have the president. He has been a poor communicator since the Iraq War began. When the whole world knew that WMD hadn’t been found, 8 months passed before he said it officially. Than he told people that WMD weren’t really the issue yet unless you are the average dumb American all I can remember leading up to the war was Bush, Rice, Cheney, Powell, Congressmembers everyone saying the word WMD. The war has been poorly run and when almost everyone knew it was being mismanaged, instead of accepting Rumsfeld’s resignation, Bush allowed him to run the war for almost another two years.
My wish is that the American public from both sides of the political spectrum can get together and put an end to the reign of fools we are under now. Are you really stupid enough to believe that ANY politicians give a crap whether gas prices rise, or that they can really identify with the working family or the single mother who has to almost kill themselves putting food on the table or clothes on your kids backs. They have servants and nannys to do that job. They are worthless, pathetic rich kids who prey on the minorities, uneducated and on average family and it is time to stop them before it’s too late.

I have to agree with you. It would be really nice if Congress stopped playing politics and actually did something for the country other than just bicker and call each other names. They seem to forget that running the country is their primary duty; not slandering their fellow members of Congress. This is why their rating is so low.
poeticapathy,
It’s ridculous how these idiots in government behave. I am tired of them saying and doing nothing of substance and yet the bulk of the American population will continue to re-elect these morons. SO I guess who is more stupid, the moron or the morons who vote for them?
Thanks for commenting.

Approval ratings mean nothing when the nation can’t even get 50% of the eligible voters to turn out for national elections and only slightly more than half for Presidential elections. The more shenanigans the politicians pull to divert focus from real issues the more apathy we can expect in the electorate. Even things like voting machine problems and election fraud generate less outrage and more feelings that a vote doesn’t count, all of which plays into the status quo politicians. The smaller the voter pool the easier it is to manipulate the results through propaganda and misdeeds, and the harder it is to effect change. Change won’t effectively come until there is some catalyst to wake up folks that something has to be done. A galvanizing, charismatic Presidential candidate might help, but I fear it will take something a bit on the catastrophic side that hits people at home before we see real change. I hope that I’m wrong.

WP,
Great point. The death to every great civilization that has ever been on the Earth is preceeded by apathy. Malaise is our worst enemy now.
Thanks for the great, insightful comments as usual.
