The Tampa Pirate Salutes Clay Moore…
Published by The Tampa Pirate February 25th, 2007 in Crime, Family, Florida, TampaOn Friday I was in Gulf Hammock, a little town north of Tampa Bay, helping a friend who is building a vacation home in the woods. I went up to the little general store a few miles away to get something cold to drink and saw the Amber Alert for Clay Moore. It read a 13 y/o teen from Manatee County had been abducted at gunpoint while on his way to school. I remember getting that sick feeling in my stomach anytime I read or hear about an abduction. I commented to my friend, “why can’t people let kids be kids?”
Well it looks like Clay is now safe at home with his parents after a daring escape. Apparently the sick bastard that abducted him took Clay to some woods 20 or so miles from his home and duct taped him to a tree. His captor then drove off. Who knows what he was planning to do. Clay had found a safety pin in his captor truck and palmed it. When his captor drove off he used the pin to cut the duct tape free and he ran off into the woods.
A farm worker was refueling a tractor Friday afternoon when the skinny teenager emerged from dense woods, lost, scared and hungry.
The farm worker spoke broken English. Clay wanted a cell phone. He called his mother about 1:30 p.m., more than four hours after he was taken from Old Tampa Road at Douglas Hill Place in Parrish.
On Saturday Clay took sheriffs into the woods to try and piece together clues and maybe find some leads to capture this sicko. Here is a picture of the gross, nasty bastard. Contact Manatee Sheriff’s Department if you thing you know him.

Let’s hope they apprehend this creep before he gets another chance!
