Where Has Our Political Identity Gone?
Published by The Tampa Pirate October 30th, 2006 in Business, Crime, Government, International, TampaIt used to be you were a Republican or a Democrat. Plain and simple. There were other parties out there, but they were considered the fringe. Now the fringe has infiltrated our two main parties, and the end result will be an implosion of both. In government corruption is running rampant, as are elitism and greed. It isn’t just in Congress, it is all around. Special interest groups and corporations run the government now for the most part. Everyone is on the take, and no one wants to admit it. The rich are getting richer, and the poor are increasing in numbers. Sadly, the middle class, the backbone of America, is shrinking more and more every year.
The middle class was the one thing that made America the greatest nation on earth. It was the brass ring most people strived to obtain. More and more the brass ring is to have the most toys and most money at the end of the race. This nation is swimming in credit card debt and it is killing the middle class. Because of ego, pride and greed, corporations and credit card companies have launched an assault, hell an all out war, on the middle class. If you want to be successful, you have to drive this kind of car, or live in this big of a house, or take these kinds of vacations, or make sure your kids have these particular toys. The list is endless. In the process as the Joneses are going into debt buying the big flat screen TV stuff, and the Smith’s, not to feel unsucessful follow suit. It’s a vicious cycle.
Meanwhile while Jones and Smith families are waging a “who has the largest T.V. penis contest,” the corporations and credit card companies are raking in all their money. The corporations don’t stop there though, oh no! They require the Jones and Smith breadwinners to work longer hours and spend less time enjoying their spoils of war and their families to pay for the toys. If one of them is tired of their job, they can’t leave because they can’t take the loss in pay. So the cycle gets more vicious, and the stress and dispair start to accumulate. You are alienating your kids by never spending time with them and your spouse is tired of never having you around.
Not to worry, though, corporations have you covered. They will gladly raise your children for you with their Bratz dolls, Hello Kitty thong panties and the fine shows they have available on T.V. They will teach your kids morality and the difference between good and bad, right and wrong. Why not? The corporate whores in Hollywood know what is best for your children. They also know what is best for your spouse. If you are unhappy, go to Las Vegas where ‘What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas’, or just watch some talk show where a talking head says that affairs actually help marriages not hurt them. Better yet, why not go to a day spa where you can drop $100’s of dollars to feel good for a day or maybe some plastic surgery so gravity won’t take it’s course. Why wouldn’t you listen to them all? Just look how much more socially and environmentally aware they are than you. George Clooney, Alec Baldwin, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, Ellen DeGeneres, Madonna, Kim Bassinger, etc all know what is best for you.
How does this all figure into government you may ask? Well, let’s take a moment to see what government could do to try and stop this madness. To begin with, they could find their souls and start doing what is in the best interest of their constituents and the American people. They could stop taking corporations’ side on every issue. I know Walmart contributed heavily to your campaign, but do you really think a Walmart on every corner is neccessary? Maybe build a park or a cultural center or even a youth center so that kids of working parents have a safe place to go to after school that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. They are out there, but they are few and far between. Many of the so called “after school” programs involve having the kids finish their homework and then just sit on their butts watching T.V.
Next comes accountabilty in government. From Mark Foley to Cynthia McKinney there is a lack of accountability and scruples. People don’t hold their elected officials accountable at all. They can act however they want, rip off whomever they choose, falsify documents, lie, cheat, steal and have sex with minors, and we let them off without demanding justice. If some commoner were to sexually molest a child and then check themselves into rehab, I guarantee the police would come to the rehab center and wisk them off to jail. Not Mark Foley. If I were to call someone a racist and hit them, I bet I would be in loads of trouble too. Not Cynthia McKinney. Most normal citizens would not act this way, but in an elitist’s mind, why not. They are above the common man and above the law.
It is shameful and a complete disgrace the abuses we allow from our party leaders. Then again what really is the party? Test this for yourself ask the person on street or a co-worker or collegue who they are going to vote for in the Florida governor’s race and why. You will get one of these answers 9 times out of 10.
(A) They’ll have no clue who’s running.
(B) They will name a candidate, but not know what they stand for.
They will vote party lines because, sadly, many people have no idea what their party even stands for. All they know is that they have been told that their party leaders help them, so it must be true. Almost 100% of the time they can’t name even one way their leaders have helped them or their community. It is frightening.
It all seems so overwhelming that people say, well what can I do? I am just one person. All I can say is vote. Read up on what your candidates really stand for and then vote. Don’t worry about party lines. They mean nothing anymore. They are just another label. Reclaim the middle class before it is gone. If you are tired of income tax, vote for a candidate who agrees and is for the Fair Tax Act that is currently stalled out in the Senate. If you are tired of legalized abortion, vote for a pro-life candidate. And so on and so on. Read about who is on your ticket and vote your heart and beliefs. Don’t just ride down party lines. That is what the big two want you to do. Look at the Libertarians, or the Reformed Party or the Green party. Quit falling for the big two ideas of what is wrong and what is right. They are career politicians, and if the American people ever become better educated about our system their careers will be over.
Stand up and be counted.

Come on. The American people are STUPID and lazy! Why
else would Lexus invent a car that will parallel park
itself? In an effort not to offend anyone and to be
“politically correct,” mediocrity has become the mantra
of the American people. Why should a vote be any
different?
