I don’t even know what to categorize this one as… I was online reading the news not too long ago, when I stumbled across an article called “Hemorrhoid Face… For those who can’t tell one end from the other.By William Saletan” Needless to say, the title caught my attention so I proceeded to read. In a nutshell, the article was about a company that issued a warning stating that its hemorrhoid cream should not be put on the face. “Huh? Who does that?” was my immediate thought. The article proceeded to explain that models use the ointment to reduce puffiness around the eyes before a shoot. According to the maker, this practice can be dangerous! DUH!…was my next thought. Of course all of this started me thinking about all of the things that we do in the name of beauty! We wax, pluck, shave, push, pull straighten, curl, heat, cool, mask, de-mask, use chemical products, natural products, file, clip, cut, paint, unpaint, moisturize, dry, brush, comb, braid, whiten, bleach, color, perm….umm, I’m sure there are more, but that’s all I can think of at the moment. And all of these things are done in the name of beauty! Sheesh! And what’s worse is, this all goes back to wanting to impress, but who are we trying to impress? Men? Each other? Ourselves? I don’t know…but I can promise you one thing… I personally, will not ever put butt cream on MY face! I CAN tell the difference! And that’s all for now.
