Twenty hours after an unidentified black man shot two Polk County Sheriff’s Deputies killing one and a K-9 dog after a routine traffic stop was himself shot and killed by SWAT this morning. He was found hiding under a fallen oak tree covered in vines not far from where he shot the Deputies and their dog.

Apparently he was found by the SWAT team and when he was told to put both hands in the air he only put one up and as they approached the man he had a cloth on his other hand and when SWAT removed it he had the gun. What happened next hasn’t been disclosed, but when it ended the suspect was shot and killed.

“God will be the judge and jury this time,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced at about 10 a.m. Friday

I say good job guys, another scumbag taken off the street.

This is how it started 24 hours ago:

Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy Douglas Speirs, who is assigned to the traffic unit, pulled a man over on West 10th Street at about 11:45 AM for speeding. The driver said he did not have a driver’s license and the situation went south from there.

The driver told Spiers that he had a Florida identification card. The deputy went back to his car and couldn’t find any record of the name on the card. The man than asked Deputy Spiers if we was going to go to jail. Spiers had already been suspicious so he called for back-up. He told the driver:

‘Hey, it’s a hot day. I’m not in the mood to drive all the way to the County Jail. I
doubt we’ll put you in jail

The suspect ran into the woods near I-4 as the back-up arrived and the chase began. As they were searching all around the woods they heard shots and went towards the location the believed the shots had come from.

Spiers arrived at location of the shots, he saw the suspect and returned fire. The suspect ducked and vanished. The suspect than popped up again and shot Spiers in the log. When help arrived they found K-9 Deputy Vernon “Matt” Williams, 39, shot to death. His dog, Diogi, was also killed. Deputy Douglas Speirs, had been shot in the leg. Luckily he was taken to the hospital in time and he is expected to recover.
